Telehealth - Online Doctor Consults
From 30 March 2020, our doctors will shift to delivering consults predominantly via Telehealth. Our doctors can perform a large proportion of routine care via the phone. These measures are in place for your safety.
What is Telehealth?
Telehealth is a healthcare medium that involves the use of ICT to transmit audio, images and/or data between a patient and a healthcare provider. It allows patients to speak to their GP on the phone or interact with them through a screen.
Telehealth is used to remotely diagnose, evaluate and treat patients from the comfort and safety of their own home. These online consults offer greater accessibility and flexibility for our patients, particularly those living in rural areas, or people that would otherwise find access to healthcare difficult.
As a preventative strategy, telehealth allows individuals to establish a baseline for their health, and determine if/when changes warrant a face to face visit. To ensure continuity of care, we recommend telehealth appointments are booked with your usual GP wherever possible.
How much does a telehealth consult cost?
Telehealth consults will be bulk billed for all current concession card holders, children under 16 years old, and patients who are vulnerable to COVID-19. In most cases, telehealth consults during the COVID-19 pandemic will be bulk-billed.
Can I get a prescription via telehealth?
Yes, your GP can still issue a script if needed via a telehealth appointment. This will be sent to your pharmacy or can be collected from Globe Medical.
- Access to a smartphone (iPhone or Android), Tablet (iPad) or Laptop is required.
Can I still come in to Globe Medical?
