Dr. Chris Rook

Professional Experience

Dr Chris Rook is a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners. After completing a medically-related Science degree, Chris went on to study medicine and undertook his internships in the United Kingdom. He completed rotations in general Medicine, Surgery, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Dermatology, before moving into General Practice and Travel Medicine. Chris also has particular interests in Dermatology, student health, evidence-based medicine.  He qualified as a Doctor in London and then went on to complete his General Practice training in Oxford, where he spent many years as a General Practitioner. Oxford is a thriving international community and provided invaluable experience in dealing with a wide variety of health problems.  

Dealing with so many international travellers, the lure of Australia proved irresistible and he moved initially to Mount Gambier to a teaching General Practice clinic. Impressed with the warmer climate and multi-cultural vibrancy of the Australian community, he decided to settle here in Adelaide.

Chris has been actively involved with student teaching both when working in both hospitals and General Practice. He has recently been accredited by the Adelaide to Outback GP Training Program as General Practice Trainer.

Current research interests include the new discipline of Evolutionary Medicine.
